I firmly believe that Cyrano de Bergerac was meant to be enjoyed with a sparkling glass of rosé. The play itself bubbles over with romance – dashing, chivalrous swordsmen pining for a fair maiden’s affection, moonlit balcony encounters, poetic love letters, and the aromatic flowers and sweets found at Raguneau’s bakery, where secret meetings are arranged.
A story with this much romance deserves a romantic drink. And what could be more romantic (and French!) than rosé?
Roxane’s Rosé, named for the fair maiden herself, is a simple drink that can be adjusted to your tastes.
Ingredients:
Your favorite bottle of rosé (I prefer sparkling)
1 oz. (or more, or less!) of St-Germain
Fresh raspberries, for garnish.
Pour about 1 oz. of St-Germain into champagne flutes or coupes. Top with rosé and float a few fresh raspberries in it for a drink that is très distingueé, like Roxane.
Voilà!
