Last Christmas, my mom gave me a copy of Lauren Graham’s memoir Talking As Fast As I Can with a copy of Eat Like a Gilmore: the Unofficial Cookbook for Fans of Gilmore Girls by Kristi Carlson. Needless to say, I was in heaven (aka Stars Hollow).

Eat Like a Gilmore is a complete guide to, well, eating like the Gilmore Girls. The book includes a huge range of recipes relating to foods eaten throughout the course of the television show. Kristi Carlson enlisted the help of chef and baker friends to put together a delicious and cohesive array of recipes.

Since Lorelai’s recipes have been featured on here accompanying a review of Lauren Graham’s memoir Talking As Fast As I Can, I’ve included Rory-inspired recipes that are so good, you’ll wonder if you, too, “are dying” (and have gone to Stars Hollow heaven). Below is a passage and recipe from Kristi Carlson’s fabulous cookbook:

Founders Day Punch

On the show, creation of Founders Day Punch is credited to Miss Patty.  Over time, we learn that its deceptively delicious, fruity flavor makes it easy to drink while the booze quietly sneaks up on you.  Like all the best punch recipes, it’s easy to make and disappears quickly. This punch is a Stars Hollow legend and is served and the quirkiest of town functions.  The first it’s heard of is during the Firelight Festival when we learn Rachel is a big fan of it, and Liz reminisces with Luke about drinking it in high school.  A few seasons later, the magic of the punch gets passed on to the next generation, rather appropriately, after Old Man Twickham dies.  Taylor turns the Twickham House into a museum and diorama, wowing the crowds with pioneering mannequins, while Miss Patty serves up her punch.  It’s an instant hit with the newly old-enough-to-drink trio of Paris, Lane, and Rory – however, Rory spends that night on the bathroom floor and wakes up with tile marks on her face.  So… while drinking this punch may lead you into a taco-worthy hangover, or a committed relationship with a sexy, blond billionaire, or both – be sure to clean your bathroom before you make it.
