"As Mercer followed her through the kitchen she heard the humming of a blender. Bruce was concocting lemon daiquiris on the rear porch and had stripped down to shorts and a golf shirt." - Camino Island (John Grisham)
"They made their way inside to the dining room. The table was narrow and not long enough for nine people, but had there been twenty, Myra would have packed them around it anyway. It was surrounded by a collection of mismatched chairs. The setting, though, was beautiful, with a row of short candles down the middle and lots of flowers. The china and stemware were old and smartly matched. The vintage silver was perfectly arranged." - Camino Island (John Grisham)
"Take it one day at a time, Elaine had said more than once. Make him come to you and ease your way into his life. Sounds simple, right?" - Camino Island (John Grisham)
I am always the advocate for keeping things simple and traditional when it comes to a recipe as iconic as lemonade. Why mess with a classic? But then I discovered agave-sweetened lemonade, of which I had low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it tasted exactly like lemonade sweetened with sugar – but at only 35 calories a glass! Try it for yourself and see what you think.
"Pie. Oh my. Nothing tastes so sweet, Wet, salty, and dry All at once so well as pie. Apple and pumpkin and mince and black bottom, I'll come to your place every day if you've got 'em. Pie." - Save Room For Pie (Roy Blount, Jr.)
"Our best-laid plans will yield to fate. And we will say, 'We lived. We ate.'" - Save Room For Pie (Roy Blount, Jr.)
I firmly believe that Cyrano de Bergerac was meant to be enjoyed with a sparkling glass of rosé. The play itself bubbles over with romance - dashing, chivalrous swordsmen pining for a fair maiden's affection, moonlit balcony encounters, poetic love letters, and the aromatic flowers and sweets found at Raguneau's bakery, where secret meetings are arranged. A story with this much romance deserves a romantic drink. And what could be more romantic (and French!) than rosé?
